Anthony Sassano, a recognized Ethereum educator, angel investor, and founder of The Daily Gwei, recently disclosed his Ethereum predictions for 2025 through X. His insights highlight a series of vital advancements and milestones that he anticipates will shape the future of Ethereum.
This year marks the 10th birthday of Ethereum, and Sassano envisions a price surge for Ether (ETH), projecting it could reach $15,000 by the close of 2025. His optimistic outlook includes a substantial rise in institutional investment, predicting that ETH Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) could attract over $50 billion in net inflows throughout the year. He also foresees the approval of staked ETH ETFs under the Trump administration, which would likely amplify demand significantly.
Expanding on his hierarchy of expectations, Sassano predicts an influx of Traditional Finance (TradFi) institutions building on Ethereum. “More major TradFi companies/institutions start to build on Ethereum,” he articulates, adding that BlackRock and its partners are poised to launch a layer 2 tokenized RWA platform on Ethereum.
Government involvement plays a crucial role in his predictions, with Sassano foreseeing several nation-states declaring their ETH holdings as part of their treasuries. “Multiple nation states reveal that they hold ETH as a treasury asset,” he notes.
From a technical standpoint, Sassano anticipates the rollout of the Pectra upgrade by March or April 2025, describing it as a point where “more blobs” will be generated, leading to significant activity. Following this, the Fusaka upgrade in 2026 is expected to be the “biggest Ethereum upgrade ever.” He forecasts an enhancement of the mainnet gas limit to at least 50 million by year’s end, thus improving transaction throughput and scalability.
Sassano’s predictions continue, focusing on advancements in Layer 2 (L2) solutions. He expects high-performance L2s like MegaETH and Rise to launch, surpassing existing high-performance Layer 1 (L1) networks in both efficiency and popularity. Moreover, he believes Arbitrum One will become the first significant rollup to reach stage 2 decentralization, with many others achieving stage 1.
Additionally, Sassano predicts that Base will separate from Coinbase and announce its token and decentralization plans. He explained this shift by stating that it would be logical for Base to have its own team “while still having all the same Coinbase support,” granting them increased freedom and flexibility, unencumbered by potential internal regulations.
He further envisions a based rollup breaking into the top five in terms of Total Value Locked (TVL), along with a major optimistic rollup transitioning to a zk rollup.
Infrastructure improvements are another focal point in Sassano’s Ethereum predictions. He estimates that the total ETH bridged into L2s will surpass 10 million, significantly boosting the network’s scalability and efficiency. Furthermore, he believes that AI agents will continue to dominate the meta throughout 2025.
In closing, Sassano expressed unwavering optimism regarding ETH’s trajectory. “Ethereum will turn 10 years old in 2025 and I’m very confident that this year will be Ethereum’s most bullish year yet! Ethereum is the world computer; ETH is money,” he concluded.
As of now, ETH is trading at $3,415. The future certainly holds exciting prospects for Ethereum enthusiasts and investors alike.
